A single release on a quiet Saturday — 58% below the weekly average — as the Senate heads toward the Memorial Day state work period.
Sen. Ashley Moody, R-Fla., appeared at Jacksonville's USS Orleck Naval Museum on Saturday for "The Last Full Measure of Devotion," a Memorial Day event hosted by Americans for Prosperity. She spoke alongside veterans, military families, and Gold Star families.
The release is the only one issued today — a Saturday two days before the Memorial Day state work period begins — coming in 58% below the Saturday average.
Moody Memorial Day appearance, Jacksonville
Moody highlighted Florida's military footprint — more than 20 installations, three combatant commands, and a veteran population exceeding 1.5 million, third largest in the nation — at the USS Orleck Naval Museum event.
"The fallen soldiers we honor this Memorial Day weekend gave everything to preserve this nation. The best way we can honor them and their families is by living worthy of that sacrifice, by standing for the principles they defended," Moody said.
The release details legislative activity since Moody joined the Senate, including cosponsoring the Military Spouse Hiring Act and the Major Richard Star Act, introducing the Drone Espionage Act, and securing what the release describes as more than $851 million for Florida military bases through work on the National Defense Authorization Act. Moody recently joined the Senate Armed Services Committee, the release notes.
