Image October 30, 2026 Press Release TULARE COUNTY, CA — Today, Congressman Vince Fong (CA-20), Congressman David Valadao (CA-22), and Tulare County announced that FEMA is providing approximately $33.1 million to Tulare County to repair roads, bridges, and other infrastructure damaged in the 2023 winter storms and flooding. The funding covers all 38 of the county’s projects tied to the disaster, which was declared a major disaster by the federal government in April 2023. The 2023 floods damaged critical roads and bridges across Tulare County, leaving local crews and taxpayers to carry the cost of repairs for more than three years. “Roads and bridges keep Tulare County moving, and the floods of 2023 left too many of them damaged and too many residents and businesses waiting on repairs,” said Congressman Fong. “This $33.1 million will help rebuild that infrastructure and ease the burden on local taxpayers. My partnership with Congressman Valadao and local leaders was critical to ensure Tulare County has the resources it needs to fully rebuild needed infrastructure. I am thankful that we got these projects across the finish line and I look forward to seeing the impact in our community.” “The flooding of Tulare Lake in 2023 caused significant damage to the Central Valley, leaving communities and taxpayers to deal with the consequences for far too long,” said Congressman Valadao. “I’ve been working for years to ensure Tulare County has the federal support needed to address the damage, and I’m glad to see FEMA deliver on that commitment. This $33.1 million will go a long way toward restoring critical infrastructure. I look forward to continuing to work with local leaders to ensure our communities have the resources they need to fully recover and move forward.” “We are grateful to Congressman Fong and Congressman Valadao for their work to secure FEMA funding for Tulare County’s recovery from the 2023 floods,” said Board of Supervisors Chair Amy Shuklian. “ This accomplishment reflects the strong working relationship our Board has built with their offices. I also want to recognize Supervisor Larry Micari, whose persistence has kept this issue top of mind for our congressional delegation and FEMA until funding was secured.” Issues : Congress
