Rick Scott, Dr. Rebeccah Heinrichs in The Hill: “If America Wants to Prosper, We Must Lead.” October 5, 2026 NAPLES, Fla. – Last week, U.S. Senator Rick Scott and Dr. Rebeccah Heinrichs of the Hudson Institute published a joint op-ed in The Hill that discusses the numerous threats to America’s prosperity — and how to confront them. In the op-ed, Senator Scott and Dr. Heinrichs argue that America is facing a growing list of threats from an “authoritarian alliance,” as China, Russia, North Korea, Iran and its proxies, and others consolidate power to steer the world away from the U.S.-led global order. The solution, they argue, is to recommit to American strength and leadership on the world stage. Senator Scott and Dr. Heinrichs wrote, “Lately, a foolish worldview is growing in popularity among elected leaders in Washington. You hear it from voices ranging from Tucker Carlson to Hasan Piker. Communist China and its accomplices will starve us, isolate us, and deprive us of every resource possible until America is weak and dependent. We will have no autonomy, no opportunity, and no freedom.
