Salinas Statement on Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act
February 13, 2025 Press Release Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (OR-06) issued the following statement after voting yes on the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act : “I support secure borders and orderly migration. I also believe we must do more to prevent dangerous, and often deadly, high-speed car chases that put the lives of both officers and civilians at risk. That is why I voted for the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act , a bill that would impose stricter penalties for people who choose to evade Border Patrol instead of complying when they are stopped. I know that our immigration system is fundamentally broken. As we take action to improve public safety today, we must also pair it with bipartisan, commonsense immigration reform that will provide people with legal pathways to entry and reduce unlawful crossings. I call on Republicans to come to the table and work with me and my Democratic colleagues on this legislation, so we can deliver certainty for immigrant communities and restore order at the border.” ### Issues : Immigration Public Safety
