Rep. Carbajal Responds to Treasury’s Confirmation that DOGE Has Access to Sensitive Personal Data
After the U.S. Department of the Treasury confirmed to Congressional Democrats yesterday that individuals associated with the so-called “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) have access to sensitive data and government payment systems, Congressman Salud Carbajal (CA-24) issued the following statement: “Unelected billionaires and unvetted right-wing activists should not have access to sensitive government data. Period. “I am in the process of demanding a full accounting from the Treasury Department on when, how, and why this access was granted, and will be helping to introduce legislation written by Congressional Democrats to block this access. I will also support any and all appropriate legal actions possible through my role in Congress. “The brazen takeover of USAID this week will likely only be the beginning. We know from the Project 2025 blueprint that the Department of Education, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and other vital programs will be in their crosshairs. “I will fight tooth and nail to enforce laws that prevent these unilateral seizures of Congressionally-approved funding and support all actions to block Donald Trump from empowering his billionaire buddies to steal funding and the personal data from Central Coast residents.”
