Rep. Burlison Introduces No Exceptions for Non-Citizens Voting Act

June 12, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Eric Burlison (MO-07) introduced the No Exceptions for Non-Citizens Voting Act, legislation that eliminates existing exceptions in federal law that excuse certain instances of non-citizen voting and ensure that violations are treated consistently under federal immigration law. Current law contains exceptions to penalties for unlawful voting if illegal aliens meet specific criteria. The No Exceptions for Non-Citizens Voting Act removes those exceptions and clarifies that any non-citizen who votes in violation of federal, state, or local law is subject to the same legal consequences. "American elections belong to American citizens,” said Rep. Burlison . “The fact that federal law currently contains exceptions for certain non-citizens who vote unlawfully makes no sense. This bill eliminates those exceptions and restores a clear standard: If you're not a citizen, you don't get a vote.” The legislation amends federal statute to strike existing exceptions related to unlawful voting by non-citizens and establishes a uniform standard for enforcement. Cosponsors : Reps. Andrew Ogles (TN-05) and Barry Moore (AL-01)
