Image Congressman DeSaulnier Meets with Small Business Owners in Concord As a former Concord small business owner, Mark was excited to continue his Business Listening Tour series in his hometown. Congressman DeSaulnier toured and met withthe owners of A Taste of Europe, Rockin' Robbie's East Bay Music, Side Gate Brewery, and Cochina Hijole Maria Restaurant to hear about their small businesses and to discuss how Mark can support them in Congress.  Image Mark Holds Transportation Listening Tour with Tri Delta Transit in Brentwood Congressman DeSaulnier met with Tri Delta Transit and other East Contra CostaCounty leaders in Brentwood to discuss recent efforts to better integrate the transportation network and reduce commute times for CA-10 residents. While there, Mark rode on the Tri MyRide shuttle, a public transportation service allowing residents to book transit from their phones, which has more than 10,000 rides per month in East County.  Image Congressman DeSaulnier Hosts Roundtable with CA-10 Business Leaders Mark gathered local business leaders for a roundtable last week to hear about the most pressing issues in their industries, from Trump's tariffs to the rise of cryptocurrency, and to discuss how Congress can address them.  Image Congressman DeSaulnier Tours Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Mark visited the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), which employs more than 700 CA-10 residents, to tour the state-of-the-art facility and meet with scientists working on important federally funded projects to address climate change, treat aggressive cancers, and more. Image Mark Discusses AI in the Workplace at UC Berkeley Labor Center Congressman DeSaulnier sat down with leading scholars on labor and employment in the U.S. at the UC Berkeley Labor Center for a conversation about the emergence of AI in the workplace and commonsense measures to ensure American workers are protected. As the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions, Mark has been working to address this new technology in Congress.  Image LEGISLATIVE UPDATE Congressman DeSaulnier Supports Accountability and Reforms in ICE Funding On February 14, funding expired for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which includes Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), among other agencies. Following the recent murders of American citizens by ICE, Congressman DeSaulnier has pushed for commonsense reforms that would guarantee accountability for ICE's lawless behavior in any DHS funding bill. However, Congressional Republicans have so far refused to allow a vote on a bill containing these necessary reforms, resulting in the current partial government shutdown. As this shutdown continues, Congressman DeSaulnier will continue working to protect individuals' civil rights and safety from the Administration's reckless enforcement efforts. Amid this rise in ICE violence and an ongoing spike in deaths among people held in ICE custody, Mark joined California Senators Adam Schiff and Alex Padilla in once again speaking out against the possibility of DHS reopening the former federal prison at FCI Dublin as a new immigration detention facility.
