WASHINGTON— On Tuesday, United States Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, addressed FBI Director Kash Patel and Director of the United States Marshals Service (USMS) Gadyaces S. Serralta during a hearing for the Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies, thanking them for their transformative work and their establishment of a permanent office in Memphis, TN. *Click the photo above or click here to watch* “Memphis boasts a rich cultural history, wonderful people and community leaders that are dedicated to their city. It’s a hub for major logistics and medical device manufacturing,” Hagerty said. “It’s also home to advanced technologies like xAI, but it’s been troubled by serious violent crime.” The Memphis Safe Task Force has targeted violent crimes stemming from street gangs and drug traffickers, building upon the work of an existing FBI task force. Director Serralta testified that, as of April 2026, the operation has yielded 8,701 total arrests by federal officers and an additional 1,426 illegal firearm seizures. Patel noted the joint effort of federal, state and local law enforcement officers has greatly contributed to the safety of Memphis, and the FBI is committed to the long-term success of the mission. “Thanks to you and the leadership in Tennessee, we opened our new office in Memphis to permanently assure the citizens of Tennessee that we’re not going anywhere,” Patel said. Hagerty commended the success achieved by the task force, calling it “a true example of where cooperation can make a difference here in America. And you have transformed a city for us.” ### Archives November 2021 Categories Uncategorized Meta Log in Entries feed Comments feed WordPress.org Home Privacy Policy Facebook X
