Walberg Honors Law Enforcement Officers During National Police Week

Image May 15, 2025 Press Release During this National Police Week, Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-05) met with members of the Hillsdale County Sheriff's Office, including Detective Sergeant Ludeker, Deputy Fellabaum, and Deputy Cramer, to thank them for their service and to honor their fellow officer, Deputy William Henry Butler Jr. Deputy Butler was shot and killed in the line of duty while assisting with a traffic stop in June 2024. He was a member of the sheriff's office for 12 years following his 26 years of service in the National Guard, including deployments overseas during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Deputy Butler's name was added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial wall in Washington, D.C. to honor him for his service, and he was recognized during a candlelight vigil at the Memorial on Tuesday night. Congressman Walberg presented the members of the Hillsdale County Sheriff's Office with the Congressional Record of the floor speech he gave in July 2024 to recognize the life and legacy of Deputy Butler. "During this National Police Week, I was honored to meet with Detective Sergeant Ludeker, Deputy Fellabaum, and Deputy Cramer of the Hillsdale County Sheriff's Office to express my sincere appreciation for the vital work they do to protect our community," said Rep. Walberg. "This week, we pause to remember and honor all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, including Deputy Butler, and recognize all our heroic law enforcement officers across the country who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.
