De La Cruz's HUD Transparency Act Passes Committee WASHINGTON– Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) released the statement below following the passage of her HUD Transparency Act throughHouse Financial Services Committee with overwhelming bipartisan support. The legislation mandates the Inspector General (IG) at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to testify annually before Congress on efforts to detect and prevent waste, fraud, and abuse. “The Financial Services Committee took an important step toward ensuring government is always held accountable to all Americans. Through passage of the HUD Transparency Act, we will require the HUD IG to testify annually on the responsible uses of their budget.
