Congresswoman Gwen Moore Commemorates Second Anniversary of October 7 th Terrorist Attacks in Israel, Calls for Implementation of Ceasefire and Other Elements of Framework for Peace “On October 7 th , 2023, 1,200 Israelis were killed, and hundreds were kidnapped, with numerous individuals still being held hostage by Hamas. My heart continues to be heavy as I mourn the innocent lives lost and those kidnapped and those who remain hostages, including Americans. In Gaza, the humanitarian crisis continues as hunger, displacement, and loss is imposed on innocent civilians, including children, who have been killed. This war must end. The most viable path forward is the recent framework for peace, which, while imperfect, calls for a ceasefire, release of the remaining living hostages and return of any remains, an increase of humanitarian aid, and the rebuilding of Gaza for Gazans. The Trump administration must do everything possible to advance ongoing diplomatic negotiations in a promising direction and away from a cycle of violence.”
