Webster Bill to Increase Rural Broadband Access Signed into Law
Washington, D.C. — On Saturday, the Eliminating Barriers to Rural Internet Development Grant Eligibility (E-BRIDGE) Act , legislation co-introduced by Congressman Daniel Webster, was signed into law. This legislation was part of the Thomas R. Carper Water Resources Development Act of 2024 . “We know broadband impacts the ability of distressed communities to attract jobs and businesses across a host of other industries, including healthcare and energy sectors, said Rep. Webster . “I’m thrilled that this commonsense bill is now law, removing unnecessary hurdles and helping more Americans get connected. The E-Bridge Act also ensures that efforts to expand broadband access do not harm existing rural broadband providers – often small businesses themselves that have invested time and capital to serve these communities, often through creative ways.” ###
