Congressman Krishnamoorthi Responds To President Trump’s Proposal For The United States To “Take Over” The Gaza Strip

February 6, 2025 Press Release WASHINGTON – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s plans for the United States to “take over” and “own” the Gaza strip: “I oppose President Trump’s proposal for the U.S. to ‘take over the Gaza Strip.’ We want a ‘lasting peace,’ but it must be a sustainable peace created through a two-state solution that ensures a secure Israeli state and an independent Palestinian state without any role for Hamas– not a U.S. State. President Trump should abandon any such scheme that could endanger American servicemembers and others in the region. Instead, we must carry forward the progress made through the ceasefire agreement, the release of hostages, and continue the essential work of rebuilding.”
