De La Cruz Secures $280 Million in Aid for Texas Farmers

Today, Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) announced alongside U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Brooke Rollins and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) that $280 million of aid funds will be deployed by the USDA to South Texas farmers. De La Cruz secured the funding in last year's end-of-year continuing resolution. "Farmers and ranchers are the backbone of our South Texas communities and economy. The funding deployment announced by Secretary Rollins today will provide critical relief for the South Texas agricultural industry after suffering tremendous losses due to drought conditions and the Government of Mexico's refusal to comply with the 1944 Water Treaty. I am proud to work alongside the Administration to deploy this critical aid and deliver solutions for the families, businesses, and communities across the nation that rely on Texas agriculture to thrive." - Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz Background: Last year, De La Cruz introduced the South Texas Agriculture Emergency Assistance Act to authorize the Secretary of Agriculture to allocate $280 million in aid funds for agricultural producers in South Texas who have suffered financial losses due to the Mexican Government's failure to make water deliveries. The requested aid funds were signed into law in the c ontinuing resolution in December 2024.
