Notebook from Enola Gay Mission for Sale at $950,000

March 6, 2026 Newsletters A recently featured World War II notebook from the copilot of the Enola Gay offers a powerful reminder of a moment that changed the course of world history.  Capt. Robert A. Lewis recorded his firsthand reaction after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, writing the now-famous words, “ My God what have we done .”  That notebook has now been listed for sale with an asking price of about $950,000.  Today, the Enola Gay, which departed from Tinian in 1945, is displayed at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia, part of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum.  As we reflect on this history, the CNMI continues to honor the service members who were stationed here and the lasting significance of our islands in shaping the final chapter of World War II.
