STATEMENT: Gottheimer on the Retirement of Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman

NORTH JERSEY — Today, November 10, 2025, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) released the following statement:

“Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman has dedicated herself to public service and to improving the lives of Jersey families. Bonnie not only broke barriers as the first African-American woman to represent New Jersey in the House, but has also never stopped fighting for the core belief that we must support our hard-working families and ensure that our children can succeed.

From fighting to stop credit discrimination to improving New Jersey’s infrastructure and helping lower costs, Bonnie has never stopped fighting for Jersey families. I’ve been proud to work with Bonnie to deliver real results for Jersey and our country. I am wishing Bonnie and her family all the best as she closes this incredible chapter in her career.”
