Rep. Ritchie Torres Joined Leaders in Denouncing Trump Administration’s Actions Against Puerto Rico

<p>On Monday, August 11th, Congressman Ritchie Torres joined community leaders to denounce the Trump administration’s removal of five members of Puerto Rico’s&nbsp;<strong>Financial Oversight and Management Board (FOMB)</strong>—a move aimed at installing partisan loyalists who will prioritize Wall Street bondholders over the people of Puerto Rico.</p>

<p>The FOMB, established by Congress under the&nbsp;<strong>PROMESA Act</strong>&nbsp;in 2016, was intended to restore Puerto Rico’s fiscal stability. Rep. Torres has long opposed the Board as anti-democratic and has introduced the&nbsp;<strong>TRUST for Puerto Rico Act</strong>&nbsp;to limit its presence on the island.</p>

<p>Trump’s latest actions threaten to impose higher electricity and service costs on Puerto Ricans while enriching bondholders at their expense.</p>
