Connecticut Congressional Delegation Members Statement on Release of Delayed LIHEAP Funding to Connecticut

December 2, 2025 Press Release Hartford, CT — Today, Reps. John B. Larson (CT-01), Joe Courtney (CT-02), Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) , and Jim Himes (CT-04) , and Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy , released the statement below following the release of delayed Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funding to Connecticut. Connecticut’s total LIHEAP allocation is $80,629,841. “We are relieved that the LIHEAP funding that states across the country have long been waiting for have finally been released with over $80 million now flowing to Connecticut. However, this funding was long overdue. Connecticut families depend on this critical assistance to keep themselves warm during these cold winter months," said the members. "President Trump and Republicans should have never used low-income families who rely on LIHEAP and SNAP for basic necessities as leverage during the shutdown they led. We will continue to fight to ensure that no household goes cold this winter, especially as people struggle with rising energy costs.” Federal funding for LIHEAP was delayed during the federal government shutdown which ended on November 12th. States across the country generally receive their allocations at the beginning of November.
