Congresswoman Nancy Mace Supports $1 Million EDA Grant To Support Lowcountry Small Businesses

September 9, 2026 Press Release CHARLESTON, S.C., (Sept. 9, 2026) – Today, Congresswoman Nancy Mace announced a $1,004,405 grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration has been awarded to Lowcountry Local First to support their Lowcountry Resilience initiative, an effort to expand access to capital and strengthen small businesses across Berkeley and Dorchester Counties. Rep. Mace worked directly with the EDA and sent a letter of support for the application, highlighting the initiative's economic development benefits to the EDA. The investment, awarded under EDA's FY2025 Disaster Supplemental Grant Program, supports eligible counties in expanding opportunities for local entrepreneurs. Total project cost is estimated at $1,381,516, with the grant expected to create 150 new jobs and leverage an additional $500,000 in private investment. “Small businesses are the backbone of the Lowcountry,” said Congresswoman Mace. "This investment expands access to capital, strengthens local entrepreneurship, and helps build a stronger, more resilient Lowcountry economy for years to come." The initiative builds on Lowcountry Local First's existing work serving locally owned small businesses through expanded access to capital and complementary entrepreneurship programming. SEE REP.
