Mike Kelly (R-PA) presented a Community Champion Award to Joe Pfadt for his outstanding community service to the Erie area. As President and Founder of Warriors to Washington, Pfadt annually leads Erie-area veterans to Washington, D.C. where they tour the nation's capital. As CEO of the Oliver Hazard Perry Shipyard, Pfadt continues to preserve Erie's maritime history for future generations. Pfadt is also a retired high school social studies teacher at Harbor Creek High School. "Joe Pfadt exemplifies what it means to be community-minded and to put his neighbors first, particularly our local veterans. Without his leadership, so many of the amazing projects in Erie County would not be possible. He is most deserving of this award," said Rep. Kelly. BACKGROUND The Community Champion Award recognizes and thanks service-minded individuals throughout Pennsylvania's 16th Congressional District for selfless and significant contributions to their surrounding communities. Each winner is presented with an official award plaque from Rep. Kelly’s office, a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol building, and a statement of congratulations entered into the official Congressional Record.
