ICYMI: Gallego Talks Housing Affordability, Tribal Self-Governance in Arizona

ARIZONA –Last week,Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ)traveled across Phoenix and Tucson to discuss Arizona’s affordable housing crisis, speak with students and Tribal leaders, and deliver a keynote address at the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Western Regional Convention.
In Phoenix onWednesday, Gallego convened his inaugural Housing Advisory Board; hosted an affordable housingtown hall; celebrated the opening of Vista Village Community Center, an affordable housing development for veterans, seniors, and survivors of domestic violence; and visited a UMOM New Day Center, Arizona’s largest provider of shelter and supportive services for people experiencing homelessness.

On Friday, Senator Gallego visited the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson to meet with servicemembers and discuss ongoing infrastructure investments and mission readiness.
Gallego fought to secure$99 millionto build critical facilities at the base in theFY2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Also on Friday, Senator Gallego delivered the keynote address at the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity’s 77th Western Regional Convention in Tucson. After his speech, the Senator also participated in a fireside chat with the fraternity’s General President Lucien J. Metellus Jr.
