Cornyn: Kendall County to Receive $700K to Combat Cybercrimes News Cornyn: Kendall County to Receive $700K to Combat Cybercrimes Funding Made Possible Through Cornyn-Supported Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act April 29, 2026 WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) announced today that Kendall County was awarded a federal grant of $700,000 to aid local law enforcement efforts in preventing, investigating, and prosecuting Cybercrimes. The funding comes through the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) as part of the Local Law Enforcement Grants for Enforcement of Cybercrimes Program and was authorized by the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act . Sen. Cornyn supported the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) reauthorization in 2022 that reauthorized the legislation through 2027 to fund critical programs for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. “From online harassment and deepfakes to the sharing of non-consensual intimate imagery, predators are finding new and alarming ways to harm innocent Texans that we must combat,” said Sen. Cornyn. “While the threat landscape continues to evolve and grow more perilous with the onset of AI and advanced technologies, the goal remains the same – to fight crime, bring perpetrators to justice, and support victims, most of whom are women.” Background: The grant funding will support: Specialized training for investigators and prosecutors; The expansion of digital evidence handling capabilities; Enhanced victim advocacy; And the development of response protocols for cyber-related offenses.
