Rep. Nancy Mace Celebrates Groundbreaking For New Beaufort County VA Clinic
October 6, 2026 Press Release PORT ROYAL, S.C. (Oct. 6, 2026) – Today, Congresswoman Nancy Mace marked an important milestone for Lowcountry veterans with the groundbreaking of the new Department of Veterans Affairs Community-Based Outpatient Clinic in Beaufort County. As a member of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, Rep. Mace supported a $30.4 million authorization for the facility to deliver Lowcountry veterans timely, high-quality care close to home. "This groundbreaking is more than the start of a construction project. It is a promise to our veterans," said Congresswoman Mace. "For years, veterans across the Lowcountry have waited for better access to care. Now, a facility built just for them is finally on the way. Nearly 17,000 veterans call Beaufort County home, and they deserve first-class healthcare close to home. Not long drives. Not red tape. Not bureaucratic delays." The clinic, located at 1844 Ribaut Road in Port Royal near Parris Island and MCAS Beaufort, will expand access to primary care, mental health services, specialty care, and other critical VA programs. The project will also create construction and healthcare jobs across the Lowcountry. "Our obligation to support our servicemembers does not end once their military service does," Mace added. "Our responsibility continues long after every uniform comes off. We will keep working until every veteran receives the care they earned. Washington should deliver results, not excuses." The clinic is expected to open in 2028 and represents a major investment in improving healthcare access for veterans across South Carolina's First Congressional District. ### Issues : Lowcountry Veterans
