Rep. Gillen Joins Freeport Police for Patrol Ride-Along, Highlights Support for Local Law Enforcement

May 8, 2026 Press Release Image FREEPORT, NY — Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04) met with Village of Freeport Police Chief Michael Smith and joined Officer Daniel Loonie for a patrol ride-along to see Freeport PD’s work firsthand and discuss opportunities for federal support. During the ride-along, Rep. Gillen was briefed on the Department’s daily operations, community policing initiatives, and ongoing public safety challenges facing the Village of Freeport. This visit follows Rep. Gillen’s ride-along with the Lynbrook Police Department and is her latest engagement with Nassau County law enforcement, continuing her efforts to meet directly with local first responders across the district. “Thank you to Freeport Police Chief Michael Smith and the officers and staff for their warm welcome,” said Rep.
