WASHINGTON D.C. –Today,Senator Andy Kimreleased the following statement condemning President Trump for illegally firing the two Democratic commissioners at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC):

“Firing FTC commissioners is not only another one of Trump’s power grabs; it is blatantly illegal and against a 90-year Supreme Court precedent. By sabotaging the FTC’s independence, Trump is trying to ensure this agency works only for his interests, not those of the small businesses, families, and American workers that the FTC is there to protect. While the direct impact of the FTC might not be top of mind for many, this extremism and corruption cannot go overlooked.”
