September 15, 2026 Press Release First-of-its-kind report offers more than 800 policy recommendations on economic growth, clean energy, environmental protection, and effective government Washington, DC – TODAY, Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI) joined the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) Institute and eight House colleagues to release the Thriving Economy Project, a first-of-its-kind report offering more than 800 policy recommendations for the 120th Congress. The report lays out policy options to foster long-term economic growth, grow good-paying jobs, build a reliable, affordable, and clean energy system, protect the environment, and improve the federal government’s ability to deliver for communities. Congressman Amo collaborated with Tim Profeta, Principal at Novi Strategies LLC and Executive in Residence and Founding Director of the Nicholas Institute at Duke, on the chapter titled “Government that Delivers,”  which focuses on making the federal government a reliable and responsive partner to state and local governments, nonprofits, working families, and small businesses. “A thriving economy requires a government that delivers,” said Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI) . “As we head into the next Congress, we’re focused on giving communities certainty, investing in the expertise to get things done, and making government easier to navigate. I look forward to turning these ideas into action and getting federal dollars into communities quickly; ensuring that red tape doesn’t hold up investments in infrastructure; expanding clean energy; and empowering state, local, and tribal partners to help build a future-looking economy that works for working people. Working on this report with my colleagues over the last year, it’s clear that we are ready to deliver results for the American people and I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting to work.” A coalition of Members of Congress and a diverse group of policy experts, private-sector leaders, and former senior officials with experience in Congress and several Administrations authored the report. Background The Thriving Economy Project is an effort of SEEC Institute, a nonprofit founded in 2024 to advance climate and clean energy solutions. The report was shaped by nearly two years of public input, including convenings around the country and more than 1,300 policy recommendations and other responses received from communities and business leaders, experts, advocates, and policymakers across the country and economic sectors. The ideas highlighted in the report focus on the challenges affecting American families and businesses today, and cover themes like rising household costs, reliable and affordable energy, economic competitiveness, access to good jobs, ways to make our supply chains more efficient and effective, environmental protection, public lands protections, and government efficiency. Among the policy recommendations included in the chapter Rep. Amo led are tools to make it easier to get federal investment into our communities, accelerating approvals for projects without sacrificing the health of the environment, investing in technical expertise, ensuring transparency and accountability, and making sure resources are available to state, local, and Tribal governments. ###
