Congresswoman Nikema Williams Joins Demands for Office of Management and Budget to Immediately Release Frozen CDC Funds

<p><strong>WASHINGTON D.C. </strong>– <strong>Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05</strong>) joined Congressional colleagues in pressing the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) over the reported freeze of up to $300 million in federal public health grants administered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These funds, already appropriated by Congress, support vital state and local health departments and public health organizations nationwide.<br /><br />The members demand the Trump administration immediately cease this and release all congressionally obligated funds to safeguard ongoing public health efforts and maintain progress in disease prevention.</p>

<p><strong>The members </strong>wrote:&nbsp;</p>

<p>&#8220;As Members of Congress, we have constituents and local organizations impacted by these<br />irresponsible funding freezes and have received urgent outreach expressing deep concern about<br />the impacts of this administration’s actions. Without reliable, regular, and renewed public health<br />investments from the federal government, this administration risks undoing decades of<br />advancements in disease prevention. We demand that OMB immediately release obligated CDC<br />funds and continue much-needed investments in our communities. Thank you for your attention<br />to this critical matter. &#8220;</p>
