March 4, 2025 Press Release Washington, DC – United States Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) released the following statement on President Trump’s Joint Address to Congress: “Tonight, we heard more of the same from President Donald Trump, divisive rhetoric that ignores the reality facing hardworking Americans.  While the president boasts about gutting government agencies and dubious statistics, his actions are driving up costs for families in California’s 19 th Congressional District, threatening access to health care for millions of Americans, and jeopardizing our national security.  The agenda outlined by the president is one that would make our economy weaker, working families without crucial services, and our country isolated and absent on the world stage. “The stakes are too high for us to get distracted.  We will hold this Administration accountable by ensuring that our nation’s checks and balances are strong through legislation, litigation, investigation, communication, and mobilization.  When federal services are threatened by this Administration and the president attacks our values, we will fight back to protect Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food assistance, and our Constitution.  Throughout our history, our nation has faced many tough challenges. The strength of our nation has always been an engaged citizenry, defense of our freedoms, and confidence in our democracy.” ### Issues : Agriculture Economy and Business Education Environment Health Housing and Homelessness Immigration LGBTQ+ Issues National Security Veterans Women's Rights
