Spending the August state work period with Ohioans

Dear friends and neighbors, I’m an Ohio guy, not a D.C. guy, so the best part of this job is spending time in our state, talking to workers, employers, and everyone working to keep Ohio strong. These visits help me be a more effective voice for you in the United States Senate. During the Senate’s August state work period, I met with our workers, small business owners, manufacturers, farmers, health care providers, and all the people who make our state great. Here are some of the highlights from my time back home. Building the things America needs Ohio workers are building essential products that are used around the world. At SENCO in Cincinnati, workers are manufacturing tools, compressors, and fasteners that are sold in more than 40 countries while creating good jobs here in Ohio. Acting Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling and I joined Yarder Manufacturing on Labor Day, which specializes in high-quality sheet metal fabrication. Ohio’s workers are the reason our state is the number-one place to do business, so it was great to see their work firsthand. I also visited Central Ohio to see the work being done at Anduril with CEO Palmer Luckey, Rep. Mike Carey (R-OH-15), and Rep. Dave Taylor (R-OH-02) at the company’s Arsenal-1 facility. We received a briefing on its production of the autonomous Fury aircraft. Anduril is strengthening America’s national defense and helping protect our skies. Celebrating Ohio’s shooting sports Black Wing Shooting Center in Delaware is a family-owned small business. I love hunting, fishing, and all outdoor sports, so meeting with their team and seeing the operation firsthand was a highlight of my time in Ohio during National Shooting Sports Month. Spending time with farmers and producers Ohio’s farmers are the backbone of our economy, putting food on tables across our nation. At the Hartford Fair, I met directly with farmers to hear about their priorities and the challenges they are facing. At the Fulton County Fair, Acting Secretary Sonderling and I met with small-business owners, vendors, and fairgoers to discuss the challenges facing Ohio’s small businesses and workforce. Unleashing American energy In Middletown , I joined Vice President JD Vance and Energy Secretary Chris Wright for an announcement at Middletown Works with Cleveland-Cliffs. Cleveland-Cliffs’ $1 billion investment in Middletown Works will strengthen Made-in-America manufacturing, which you can’t do without Ohio. This investment will create jobs, strengthen American steelmaking, and help secure our nation’s energy dominance. If we want to make things more affordable, we have to produce reliable, abundant energy at home. Ohio has the resources to help power America. Now we need to put them to work. I had the chance to speak at the Energy Affordability Summit in Columbus about how we can make that happen. Supporting our job creators In Cincinnati, I had the opportunity to hear directly from working Ohioans about what we can do to make life more affordable. These conversations reinforce my priority as I serve in the U.S. Senate: making sure Ohio families have more opportunities to save, spend, and invest in the priorities that matter most to them. Investing in Ohio’s health care future The Cleveland Clinic is advancing medical breakthroughs that will improve lives here in Ohio and around the world. I joined them to celebrate the opening of two new state-of-the-art research buildings on its main campus. At Kent State’s Independence campus, I spent time with students at the College of Podiatric Medicine who will go on to care for Ohioans across our state. My visits across Ohio reinforced what we already know: Ohio is the best place to live, raise a family, and grow a business. I am committed to bringing everything I heard back with me to Washington as I represent you in the U.S. Senate. We’re here to help Customer service is my top priority.
