Senator Andy Kim’s Statement on Bipartisan Vote to Block DHS Funding
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today,Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ)released the following statement after voting to block a proposed funding package from proceeding in the Senate:
“Senators from both sides of the aisle made clear today that we will not fund this administration’s efforts to weaponize the tools of government against us. Their lawlessness has taken lives on the streets of our neighborhoods, and I’ve heard from so many about an overwhelming fear that they can be targeted next.
“We need real changes to fix a broken and lawless system that has led to so many Americans losing trust in their government to keep them safe. The American people deserve real security – they can feel and trust – and I’ll be working closely with my colleagues to deliver it.”
