Landsman Statement on Unilateral Recognition of a Palestinian State

<p><strong><em>Cincinnati, OH</em></strong><em> – Today, Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH-01) released the following statement ahead of the United Nations Summit on the Israel-Palestine conflict, where leaders will discuss unilaterally recognizing a Palestinian state:</em></p>

<p>I believe in real solutions, and the only path forward to a two-state solution, which I strongly believe in, is through direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, which can’t happen until the war is over and the hostages have been returned home.</p>

<p>These unilateral actions undermine hopes for two states. Actual statehood comes with defined political borders, legitimate governing authorities, and security agreements.</p>

<p>Everyone should be working to end this war, get the aid that’s in Gaza distributed to everyone that needs it, get the hostages home, and help rebuild Gaza with a new and legitimate governing authority.</p>

<p>That’s the pathway to a durable peace.</p>
