Rep. Sara Jacobs Votes Against Blocking Child Care Funds Over Baseless Fraud Claims
June 03, 2026 Rep. Sara Jacobs Votes Against Blocking Child Care Funds Over Baseless Fraud Claims After voting against H.R. 7726, Rep. Sara Jacobs (CA-51) reiterated the case for universal child care. Rep. Sara Jacobs said: “There’s no shred of evidence of widespread fraud in the Child Care and Development Block Grant system, and yet my Republican colleagues are using that baseless claim as a pathetic excuse to potentially slash federal funding that families depend on every day. We should take allegations of fraud seriously and take steps to prevent it, but the answer isn’t to block access to vital child care funds for both providers and families. In fact, I’d argue that this makes an even better case for universal child care. Our federal child care system already has built-in integrity measures that should be strengthened, and we should continue our vigorous oversight to make sure that our tax dollars are spent how they’re intended, without letting children, families, and providers become collateral damage. “Child care isn’t a luxury; it’s what families depend on for economic security and to provide their children a good start in life. I will keep fighting against all partisan attacks on our nation’s families.” ### Print Email Share Tweet
