Rep. Webster Votes to Send Rescissions to President Trump

Washington, D.C. — Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, released the following statement after voting to cut $9 billion from planned federal government spending. “Washington has a spending problem, but today I voted to stop the spigot of reckless spending,” said Rep. Webster . “Together with my Republican colleagues, I voted to send this rescissions package to President Trump to cut billions of dollars in wasteful, unnecessary spending on programs that undermine our values and fail to put America First.” H.R. 4 rescinds $9 billion from foreign aid programs that have too often supported anti-American agendas and pulls the plug on taxpayer funding for public broadcasters that peddle far-left propaganda at the expense of hardworking Americans. Highlights of the rescissions package include: $1.1 billion in federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting $1 million for voter ID in Haiti $3 million for Iraqi Sesame Street $2.1 million for “climate resilience” in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and East Africa $6 million for “Net Zero Cities” in Mexico $8 million for the UN Human Rights Council $3 million for reproductive health in Venezuela $6 million for supporting media organizations and civic life of Palestinians ###
