Landsman Passes Second Bipartisan Bill to Protect Americans from Cyberattacks

<p><strong><em>Cincinnati, OH</em></strong><em>&nbsp;– Today, Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH-01) announced his bipartisan legislation to protect Americans from cyberattacks and foreign surveillance has passed the U.S. House of Representatives.</em></p>

<p>In February, Congressman Landsman and Congresswoman Kat Cammack (R-FL) introduced&nbsp;<a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/1709/text">H.R.1709 – the&nbsp;<em>Understanding Cybersecurity of Mobile Networks Act</em></a>&nbsp;– legislation that directs the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to&nbsp;examine the cybersecurity of mobile networks and devices in the United States, and report to Congress how vulnerable they are to cyberattacks and surveillance by foreign adversaries.</p>

<p>The report to Congress will include critical information on how to better protect America’s communications systems – a key component of safeguarding national security.</p>

<p>The&nbsp;<em>Understanding Cybersecurity of Mobile Networks Act</em>&nbsp;passed the House Energy and Commerce Committee in a bipartisan vote in March.</p>

<p>“Our foreign adversaries are actively working to divide us. This bipartisan bill will have a huge impact on strengthening our defenses against growing cybersecurity threats. Congress needs the tools and information to stop these cyberattacks and protect Americans from foreign surveillance.”</p>
