Brown Statement on Student Visa Revocations at Ohio Universities
Image April 16, 2025 Press Release Cleveland, OH – Following reports that international students attending universities in Ohio and across the country have had their visas revoked by the Trump Administration, Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) releases the following statement: “I am alarmed by the Trump Administration’s concerted and heavy-handed effort to revoke student visas nationwide, including here in Ohio. My office is seeking further information about the criteria and process behind these visa revocations. “The public deserves transparency about why visas are being pulled. In light of the Administration’s pattern of lawless actions, defiance of federal courts, and disregard for due process, I fear this could be part of a broader effort to stifle dissent and suppress free expression. “We should take pride that students from around the world choose to study here. It strengthens our institutions, our communities and our economy. These arbitrary visa purges are not only creating a culture of fear among international students but also scaring off generations of prospective foreign students.” ## Issues : Education
