Senator Andy Kim Statement Condemning Trump Administration Firing 200+ Foreign Service Officers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ) released the following statement after the State Department officially terminated over 200 foreign service officers (FSO), even as the Department continues to recruit and onboard new officers: “I cannot make sense of just how wasteful and shameful this is. In the middle of a war only he chose, Trump continues to weaken us. I saw FSO’s service up close. They are non-partisan experts who play an integral role to our nation’s defense. Firing over 200 of these dedicated and trained public servants is not the way to update our State Department to better meet the needs of the 21st century.” ###
