Congressman Harris Announces $2.1 Million for University of Maryland Eastern Shore

September 23, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01), announced the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) will receive $2,131,929 in federal funding through the Supplemental HBCU Mandatory Grants program. Statement from Congressman Harris: “UMES has a long history of educating students on the Eastern Shore and preparing graduates for careers in Maryland and across the country. This $2.1 million in funding will strengthen academic programs and provide additional resources for students.” The funding is provided through the U.S. Department of Education’s Supplemental HBCU Mandatory Grants program, which provides federal funding to Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
