Cortez Masto Opposes Mehmet Oz for Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement opposing Dr. Mehmet Oz to serve as President Donald Trump’s Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The statement follows her vote against his nomination in the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance today. “President Trump has endorsed the House Republican plan to cut nearly a trillion dollars in funding for Medicaid, and this administration and Elon Musk have shown a clear willingness to disrupt Medicare as well. These cuts would directly harm children and seniors,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “Dr. Oz has demonstrated a complete deference to Trump, and I’m not confident he would fight to protect Medicaid and Medicare from the Trump administration’s chainsaw. I therefore oppose his confirmation.”
