February 6, 2025 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust Subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee is holding a hearing on the recent California wildfires affecting Altadena, Pasadena, the Pacific Palisades, and surrounding communities. Chairman Jim Jordan and the majority did not have Reps. Judy Chu (CA-28) and Brad Sherman (CA-32), who represent the areas affected, from participating to provide updates and articulate a federal response needed to assist individuals to rebuild their lives. Reps. Chu and Sherman released the following statement in response: “Chairman Jim Jordan is refusing today to allow the testimony of the elected representatives of the districts impacted by the wildfire. This proves that the real goal of the hearing is to denigrate the fire victims and the state in which they reside, for the purpose of shortchanging the fire victims when it comes to federal aid and abandoning them in their time of need. The victims need help now to recover from the costliest fire in American history, and they do not have time for political games.” Issues : Small Business, Jobs and the Economy San Gabriel Mountains Energy and Environment
