Congresswoman Luz Rivas Statement on ICE Raids Across the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles

June 19, 2025 Press Release LOS ANGELES – Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) released the following statement condemning U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids happening across the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles: “I am both outraged and heartbroken by the ICE raids happening across Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. The only purpose of the Trump Administration’s raids is to instill more fear, cause more chaos, and inflict more harm among our most vulnerable. “The families and individuals I have spoken with across my district are afraid to leave their homes because they might be illegally detained by ICE and separated from their loved ones. “No one should have to live with that fear. “As I learned this week during my visit to the Adelanto Detention Facility, this Administration is terrorizing our communities to fulfill a quota, even going as far to detain law-abiding individuals who are trying to live out their own American Dream. “The Valley’s support is stronger than this Administration’s contempt for immigrant communities. “This Administration’s harmful recklessness on our most vulnerable populations is a stain on our values and spit in the face of the contributions that generations of immigrants made to make our city, our state, and our country great in the first place.” ###
