Griffith Announces $33,915 DOT Grant to Cumberlands Airport Commission

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded the Cumberlands Airport Commission, based in Wise County, Virginia, a $33,915 grant. The funding supports a tree removal project that helps bring the airport into conformity with current standards. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement: “Tree removal projects are essential in optimizing the safety of aircraft and passengers. “This DOT grant for $33,915 helps Cumberlands Airport Commission identify and eliminate obstructions to the Lonesome Pine Airport.” BACKGROUND As part of the grant funding, the Cumberlands Airport Commission will conduct an environmental analysis. ###
