WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Peter Welch (D-Vt.), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee , released the following response to President Trump’s formal nomination of Todd Blanche to be Attorney General of the United States (AG): “The United States Attorney General is the lawyer of the American people, not the personal lawyer for the President. But already, Todd Blanche has made it clear who he answers to,” said Senator Welch . “I have no faith that Acting AG Blanche will fight for justice, the rule of law, and the civil rights of all Americans—he will only fight for President Trump. I cannot support his nomination.” Senator Welch called on Acting AG Blanche to resign in May. ###
