U.S. Senator Katie Britt Directly Secures Over $11.5 Million for the River Region, Continues Leadership on Senate Appropriations Committee

WASHINGTON,D.C.– U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.), as a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, recently directly secured over $11.5 million for the River Region through the passage of three Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 appropriations bills:theFY26 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies (CJS) Appropriations Act,theFY26 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act,and theFY26 Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies (EWD) Appropriations Act.
“There are several critical priorities for the River Region that I was proud to champion and secure in the recent package of funding bills passed by Congress,”said Senator Britt.“From strengthening our inland waterway infrastructure, to supporting our hardworking law enforcement, to providing funding for our incredible higher education institutions, this important funding reflects my promise when I joined the Appropriations Committee to return your hard-earned taxpayer dollars home to Alabama.”

The FY26 CJS bill includes funding for critical national priorities, including $30 million for the National Mesonet Program, which Senator Britt was proud to support.
Senator Britt also supported over $250 million to advance economic development and infrastructure improvements across the state, including for the Southeastern Crescent Regional, Appalachian Regional Commission, and Delta Regional Authority.
