Rep. Menefee Celebrates 100 Days of Delivering for TX-18
May 13, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Christian D. Menefee (TX-18) marks his first 100 days in office after being sworn in on February 2, 2026. Before his election, Texas’ 18th Congressional District went 334 days without representation in Congress. “Today marks 100 days in office, and we’ve already gotten a whole lot done for the people of TX-18,” said Congressman Menefee. “From introducing legislation and standing up for environmental justice and voting rights, to rebuilding this office from the ground up, every single day has been focused on delivering for our communities.” During his first 100 days in Congress, Congressman Menefee has: Introduced three pieces of legislation, including the Special Elections Timeliness Act (or SET Act), to ensure no congressional district experiences the prolonged vacancy TX-18 faced following the passing of the late Congressman Sylvester Turner. Co-sponsored 49 pieces of legislation focused on lowering costs, holding President Trump accountable and expanding opportunity for working families. Debated 13 bills on the House floor, advocating for environmental justice, voting rights, and policies that uplift underserved communities. Participated in more than 100 meetings with local stakeholders, community leaders, advocacy organizations, and residents both in D.C. and across TX-18. Built a congressional office from the ground up, hiring staff in both Washington and Houston to ensure constituents receive strong representation and responsive service. Been appointed to the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, where he is working to protect scientific research, strengthen innovation, and keep Houston at the center of America’s space future.
