Fitzpatrick Secures $4 Million for New Bensalem Fire Station to Modernize Emergency Response and Strengthen Public Safety

Major federal investment will replace nearly 50-year-old facilities, strengthen coordination between career and volunteer firefighters, and enhance emergency protection across Bensalem Township. LANGHORNE, PA — Today, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) announced a major victory securing $4 million in federal Community Project Funding to advance construction of Bensalem Township’s new Department of Public Safety Fire Station, a major step toward modernizing emergency response and strengthening public safety across the township. The project will replace two nearly 50-year-old volunteer fire stations with a modern, centrally located facility uniting career and volunteer firefighters under one roof. Designed to improve response times, expand emergency coverage, and integrate fire, rescue, EMS, and command operations, the new station will give Bensalem’s first responders the infrastructure and operational capabilities they need to protect its residents and meet future public safety challenges. “On behalf of the Bensalem Township Department of Public Safety and the firefighters who serve the community of Bensalem, we would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick for providing necessary funding to assist the Township with the development of a new fire station. The construction of a new firehouse, along with improvements to existing infrastructure, remains a priority for Bensalem Township to ensure the continued delivery of safe, efficient, and reliable fire services to the community,” said William McVey, Director of Public Safety for Bensalem Township. “This historic investment is a major step forward for public safety in Bensalem. The new facility will strengthen our emergency response capabilities, improve coordination between our career and volunteer firefighters, and provide our first responders with the resources and facilities they need to protect our community. We thank Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick for his support and commitment to bringing federal resources back to our community!” said Mark Antozzeski, Fire Chief of Bensalem Township. “Our first responders are the foundation of public safety, and ensuring they have the resources their mission demands has long been one of my highest priorities as Co-Chair of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus,” said Fitzpatrick. “We are fortunate to have some of the finest right here in PA-1. Through years of working alongside Bensalem’s firefighters and public safety leaders, I’ve witnessed their extraordinary dedication, skill, and selfless service as they’ve adapted to the evolving needs of our community. Working closely with Mayor DiGirolamo, Director McVey, Chief Antozzeski, township leaders, and the firefighters themselves, we recognized the need for a modern, centralized facility that would strengthen their ability to protect our neighbors. So, I got to work and fought to secure $4 million to bring this vision to life. I’m grateful for their steadfast service and partnership, and look forward to continuing our work together to ensure they have the support, resources, and capabilities they need to continue safely and successfully protecting our community.” Strengthening Emergency Response and First Responder Readiness The new Department of Public Safety Fire Station will provide a centralized, purpose-built facility designed to meet Bensalem Township’s current operational needs while preparing its emergency services for future demands. Key project improvements include: Faster Response Times and Expanded Coverage: A strategically located facility designed to improve emergency access, streamline deployment, and strengthen protection for neighborhoods throughout Bensalem. Greater Coordination and Operational Readiness: A unified station bringing career and volunteer firefighters together, strengthening communication, staffing readiness, training capacity, and command operations. Modern Equipment and Emergency Response Capabilities: Expanded operational space to accommodate fire and rescue vehicles, EMS units, marine response equipment, and other critical resources necessary to respond to a broad range of emergencies. Beyond replacing aging infrastructure, the project will establish a more coordinated, efficient, and resilient emergency response system—strengthening the township’s long-term preparedness while supporting the safety of both residents and the first responders who serve them. Delivering For Pennsylvania’s First District The Bensalem fire station is part of Fitzpatrick’s broader commitment to strengthening public safety, supporting first responders, and modernizing critical infrastructure throughout Pennsylvania’s First Congressional District. Through the FY2026 Community Project Funding process, Fitzpatrick successfully championed more than $27.5 million for 11 community projects addressing critical local needs across Pennsylvania’s First District. With this latest round of funding, Fitzpatrick has brought more than $80 million in federal Community Project Funding to PA-01 since FY2022 , translating priorities identified by local communities into lasting investments in the people, services, and infrastructure that strengthen the region. Together, these investments reflect Fitzpatrick’s community-first leadership, empowering local organizations, responding to community needs, and ensuring federal resources translate into meaningful, measurable, and lasting benefits for Bucks and Montgomery counties. ###
