Congressman Patronis Advances Increased Funding for Veterans, Military Families, and National Defense

May 15, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis (R-FL) voted to advance H.R. 8469, the Fiscal Year 2027 MilCon-VA Appropriations Act, which increases funding for veterans’ health care, strengthens military readiness, and invests in infrastructure to keep America’s armed forces the most lethal fighting force in the world. “President Trump made winning wars and rebuilding military strength a top priority, not wasting taxpayer dollars on ineffective, woke programs that don’t keep Americans safe,” said Congressman Patronis. “This bill continues that mission by fully funding veterans’ health care, strengthening our military, standing up to China, and protecting the values that make America strong.” The legislation includes $469.49 billion in total funding for veterans’ services and military readiness, including: A 3% increase in VA funding from FY26 $138.2 billion for veterans’ health care $19.2 billion for military buildings and housing for service members and their families Funding for community-care, enabling veterans get care from non-VA doctors and clinics More than $2 billion to improve VA hospitals, facilities, and national cemeteries Protections for veterans’ Second Amendment right to own firearms H.R. 8469 has passed the House 400-15 and now moves to the Senate for consideration.
