Mike Levin’s Statement on President Biden’s Action on Offshore Drilling Washington, D.C.- Today, Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49) released the following statement on President Biden’s action to protect federal waters from offshore oil and gas drilling: “I applaud the President’s action to protect our waters from offshore oil and gas drilling, including 250 million acres along the West Coast. This announcement comes after my colleagues and I sent a letter to the President urging him to ban offshore drilling in economically and ecologically important areas before he exits office. As a result of today’s action, we’re tackling the climate crisis while preserving important ecosystems, protecting coastal communities, and promoting local economies. “The President’s action will be difficult to undo without Congressional legislation, but we must still be on alert. I remain committed to doing everything I can to defend our coasts and will fight any efforts to allow offshore drilling off of California.
