🇺🇸 Delivering Answers for Veterans

After more than 20 years in uniform, I’ve seen too many battle buddies come home from service only to face a new kind of fight — navigating a VA system so confusing they don’t even know what care or benefits they’ve earned. The problem : Roughly 60% of veterans don’t even know the VA offers home accessibility grants — and that’s just one example of a program! Too often, America’s heroes are left guessing, paying out of pocket, or going without care altogether simply because the VA doesn’t give them the whole picture. Why it matters : Corporal Adam Lambert of Adel served our nation with honor and tragically lost his life to suicide just one year after returning home. We’re leading legislation in his honor to better connect veterans with mental health and transition care. But even the best programs can’t help if veterans don’t know they exist. That’s why we’re leading the Veterans’ Bill of Rights Act — a straightforward, commonsense solution to make sure Iowa veterans aren’t left guessing and can easily understand and access the benefits they’ve earned. Our bill would : 🇺🇸 Require the VA to clearly communicate veterans’ rights at every facility and online 📄 Provide plain-language explanations of care, benefits, and eligibility 🛡️ Protect veterans’ ability to raise concerns without fear of retaliation Bottom Line: Veterans shouldn’t have to fight a second battle when they return home. We’re fighting to make sure the VA shows up for every servicemember — just like they showed up for our country.
