June 5, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following the passage of the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act in committee, Representative John McGuire issued the following statement. “We wouldn’t have a country without our men and women in uniform,” said Rep. John McGuire (VA-05). “The 2027 National Defense Authorization Act ensures our nation’s warfighters have what they need to defend our great country. This year’s NDAA builds upon last year’s success in growing our domestic industrial base and speeding up the procurement process to ensure that our warfighters have the tools to win the fight and return home. This year's theme is supercharging the Defense Industrial Base (DIB). I was proud to see over several dozen of my initiatives make it into the final passage of this bill, many of which directly impact Virginia’s Fifth Congressional District. We live in the greatest nation on earth, and this year’s NDAA ensures we remain the strongest.” The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2027: Expands U.S. production capacity, unleashes private sector investment, opens the door to new and innovative entrants, reduces needless regulations, and creates thousands of skilled jobs for Americans Rebuilds depleted stockpiles by providing the authorities and resources required to expedite the production and acquisition of munitions and key war fighting capabilities. Supports the President's request to raise all service members' pay by 5 to 7% and improves housing, education, and access to childcare for military families. Invests in the capabilities needed to maintain a strong U.S. posture, strengthening nuclear deterrence, expanding missile defense, and providing resources and authorities to counter adversaries like China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. Ensures our warfighters have the capabilities they need to prevail in future conflicts by accelerating innovation and prioritizing cutting-edge technologies like hypersonic and autonomous systems. Builds on progress made in FY26 to streamline DoW operations and cut billions in wasteful programs. It stands up a new task force and provides necessary resources to achieve a full and clean audit within 24 hours.
