Hawley Secures $40.5 Million in Additional Funding for Cleanup of Coldwater Creek

WASHINGTON— U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) announced that the Army Corps of Engineers has committed to provide $40.5 million in additional funding devoted to the cleanup of Coldwater Creek and related sites in the St. Louis region. The funds will be used for remediation activities under the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) to clean up radioactive waste dating from the Manhattan Project.

Senator Hawley has consistently advocated on behalf of the Coldwater Creek community. In March, Senator Hawleysecureda pledge from EPA administrator, Lee Zeldin, to clean up radioactive waste during Administrator Zeldin’svisitto St. Louis. In April, Senator Hawleyapplaudedthe EPA for expediting their plan to clean up the West Lake Landfill and Coldwater Creek. And in July, President TrumpsignedSenator Hawley’s expandedRadiation Exposure Compensation Act(RECA) into law as part of theOne Big Beautiful Bill Act.
